McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) is a joint civil-military airport located in Knoxville, Tennessee. Knoxville is not a hub city for any airline, although Delta Connection and US Airways regional affiliates use the airport daily for multiple flights.  TYS airport serves less than 1 million passengers per year.

The airport is composed of one two-level terminal and two parallel runways. Passengers simply walk to gates as there is no type of people mover.  The airport is accessible by car via I-40 and I-70.

The airport is named after Navy pilot Charles McGhee Tyson, who disappeared while on patrol during World War I. The airport also serves as a base for Tennessee’s National Guard 134th Air Refueling Wing. Most flights into and out of the airport are non-commercial military and private aviation flights.
