Tucson International Airport (TUS) is located ten miles outside of central Tucson, Arizona. It is the 2nd busiest airport in Arizona after Phoenix Sky Harbor International. The airport sees almost 4.5 million passengers per year. The airport has three runways, one terminal building with 20 gates (dived between two concourses). The airport has 8 commercial airlines that serve destinations mainly in the West and Southwest. Southwest Airlines, American Airlines and Delta.
Tucson International’s roots go back to 1919, when Tucson opened the first municipal airport in the US. It has since moved, taking over a former World War II air base. A new terminal was completed in the 1960s and was upgraded. Traffic to the airport grew in the 1990s when Southwest Airlines began offering flights.
The airport is located on Tucson BLVD, near Interstates 10 and 19. The airport can also be reached via city streets.
