SAT – San Antonio Airport Parking
San Antonio International Airport (SAT) handles of 8 million passengers each year. Its capacity is currently being increased as San Antonio continues to grow as a metropolitan area. Southwest is the largest carrier at the airport, accounting for more than 30 percent of the commercial traffic. Delta and United and their affiliates also have a strong presence.
SAT has two terminals. The first, now known as Terminal 2, opened in the late 1950s. The second, now Terminal 1, has 16 gates and was constructed during the 1980s. New plans will significantly change the airport. Parking spots are being added and construction of additional terminals planned for the near future.
VIA bus #5 provides airport service, though most people choose to drive, using Highway 281 to reach the airport. The airport was originally opened as Alamo Field. It was used by the military during World War II and was handed over to the city after the war was finished.
