T. F. Green Airport (FAA code PVD) is also officially known as Theodore Francis Green State Airport.
Important airlines that fly from PVD include Delta, United and US Airways. However, the airport does not serve as a hub for any airline. The flights out of here serve mainly US East Coast destinations like Philadelphia and Washington Reagan. PVD is an important airport for Air Canada, which accounts for almost all of the international flights. In total there are 108,000 flights into and out of the airport each year. The airport promotes itself as a great alternative to Boston Logan International Airport, which suffers from crowded terminals and delays.
T.F. Green has one terminal with two concourses. Since it is relatively small in size, it is easy for passengers to get from concourse to concourse by walking.
T.F. Green Airport is accessible by car via I-95. The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) also has several options for getting to the airport, such as the #20 bus which originates at Kennedy Plaza and makes several stops along the way and the #14 bus, which is an express bus directly to the airport.
The airport was dedicated 1931, the terminal building was built in 1933, and was given its current name in 1938. In the 1960s, due to increased demand, the airport expanded its runways to allow for jet landings and in the 1990s the terminal was completely renovated. Almost a quarter of PVD’s traffic is from general aviation.
