PHF – Hampton Roads Airport Parking
The Newport News Williamsburg International Airport (PHF) is one of the two major airports serving the Hampton Roads metro area. The airport was founded in the 1940s as Patrick Henry Field (thus its FAA code PHF). PHF had an up-and-down history, finally starting to grow into its current design in the 1980s and early 1990s. AirTran, Frontier Delta and US Airways are currently the main airlines at PHF.
Traffic has increased at Williamsburg Int’l since 2005, with over 1 million fliers passing through the terminal each year. Airport authorities are adding a third runway (open in 2012) to meet rising demand. There are two concourses, the second was recently opened and is used by AirTran and Frontier. There are a total of 16 gates. The upgrades also include plasma screen TVs, broadcasting news and flight information throughout the airport. Further upgrades are planned. Passengers usually reach the airport by car, though Hampton Roads Transit (HRT #111 bus) regularly serves the airport.
