PDX – Portland International Airport
Portland International Airport, known as PDX to frequent fliers, is a hub for SkyWest Airlines, as well as Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. It is a major international airport, with carriers offering non-stop flights to Japan, the Netherlands, Mexico and Canada. PDX serves around 14.5 million passengers annually and the Oregon Air National Guard has a base on the airport grounds.
This is an easy airport to get to with public transit. The MAX Red Line light rail connects PDX with Downtown Portland. It can also be reached by car via I-205.The airport as a unique “H” shaped terminal building with 5 concourses. Conde Nast rated this airport as one of the most user-friendly, though JD Power and Associates gave it a much lower ranking. PDX is known as a relatively environmentally friendly airport due to its use of the light rail transit system, its restaurants’ recycling programs and the solar panels that supplement the building’s energy.
