Omaha International Eppley Airfield was named after Eugene C. Eppley, an Omaha hotel magnet. It is sometimes referred to by its FAA code OMA. Because the city is small, this is a relatively un-busy airport. However, it is used by passengers going to and from Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa, as well as the Omaha metro area. Omaha is a focus city for Midwestern Airlines. Though it was once an international airport, these days, all flights from OMA go only to destinations within the US. Southwest Airlines is currently the heaviest user of the airport, which serves about 4 million passengers year. It is followed by United Airlines, which also uses the airport for daily flights. OMA earned a bit of fame recently when it was used in the making of the George Clooney film Up in the Air.
Eppley Airfield can be reached from Abbott Drive and Iowa Highway 165 and by MAT bus #16. The airport is directly on the border of Iowa and Nebraska.
