OAK – Oakland Airport Parking
Oakland International Airport (OAK) is one of three major airports in the Bay Area. It is a focus airport for Southwest Airlines, Alaska Airlines and JetBlue and is a popular place to find low cost carriers. Many of the 11.5 million passengers that pass through every year fly on budget airlines, many of which do not fly into the larger Bay Area airport, SFO. In 2008, OAK added gates to Terminal 2 and improved the food court, shopping and gate areas. They also renovated the baggage claim level. More improvements are being planned for the airport, which was originally dedicated in 1943 by famous aviator Charles Lindbergh.
Passengers can take shuttle buses (AirBART) to connect to the main BART system, which reaches all parts of the urban and suburban Bay Area by rail. OAK is also accessible by car from Interstate 880.
