MLI – Quad City Airport

Quad City International Airport (MLI) serves about one million passengers annually.  Most of the fliers who pass through this Illinois airport are headed to larger hubs where they will catch connecting flights to their final destination.  Popular destinations include Chicago O’Hare, Chicago Midway, Dallas Fort Worth and Minneapolis Saint Paul.

MLI is a small airport in terms of terminal size.  The airport is made up of 1 terminal building.  There are three runways on the airfield.

The airport is accessible by car via I-280 and I-74. Quad City has a public transport network called MetroLINK that offers service to the airport (Route 20).  Despite regular service, most people choose to travel by car.

Quad City Airport has a long history.  The airport started as an air-mail service center in 1926. It has undergone many renovations and expansions since then, the most recent of which added 2 new concourses and expanded the baggage claim area. Commercial flights are only a small portion of the air traffic that passes through the airport every year.  Most flights are private aircraft or other general aviation aircraft.
