MIA – Miami Airport Parking
Miami International Airport (MIA) is South Florida’s largest airport. It is a hub for American Airlines. The airport serves over 34 million passengers per year. MIA is made up of one large terminal building. There are a total of nine concourses and four runways. There is an automated people mover that connects Concourse E with the other parts of the airport. However, most of the gates at the airport can only be reached by walking.
The airport can be reached by car via Expressways 826 and 836 and can also be reached by free shuttles to and from Hialeah Market and Miami Airport stations and on the Tri-Rail rail line.
MIA has a long and interesting history. Pan Am originally used the land where the airport is now located for flights to Cuba in the 1920s. The airport has undergone several expansions and renovations since and the modern terminal was opened in 1959. Concourses were added one at a time since the original building opened.
Of all airports in the US, Miami has the highest percentage of international flights. It is known as a Latin American hub. It serves both passenger planes and cargo carriers headed to destinations throughout Latin America, the Caribbean and South America.
