Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) is the 24th busiest airport in North America and serves around 21 million passengers annually. Construction of the 5 terminal facility began shortly after the end of World War II and flights began running in 1957. The airport has since undergone several expansion and renovation projects, including the addition of a rail station and total terminal renovations that were completed in 1974. The airport now serves as a hub for AirTran Airways and has recently become an important location for Southwest Airlines. In 2010, BWI was ranked #1 by the Airports Council International as the best in service quality for airports of its size.

Baltimore Int’l is also ranked in the “Top Ten Easiest U.S Airports To Get To” and is located just off interstate I-95 and Baltimore-Washington Parkway. The airport can be reached by car or Bus Route 17 and is only a mile from the BWI Rail Station. Passengers can board free shuttle buses between the airport and rail station. From the rail station, passengers can find connections to Baltimore’s Penn Station and to Union Station in Washington, D.C.
